Empire - Lord of the Rings

There is a mixture of different colours in this cover. To maybe highlight the exclusiveness of this issue. From the other front cover we can see that the colours are not fixed as 'Empire' is red in this cover. However the fonts are all the same and most of the text is in capitals however there are a few words in lower case for the description of staplines. The background in the image is more film based as the image reflects the film of the month which in this issue is Lord of the Rings. The hobbit is the centre image and can be marked as a symbol for the film. There is a box which goes across the middle of the cover and either end has a strapline of a film which gives the magazine a sophisticated egde. It also does not allow the text to drown into the busy background. The text and staplines are balanced on either side to make the layout neat and organised and consise. There are lots of small images on the cover as well as the ring in 'Hobbit' to play of the word hobbit and draw in the theme of the film.
